Hi there. My name is Rachel Maier. I am a multipassionate, multidisciplinary artist and my work is grounded in re-centering diverse ways of knowing and being, while honoring relational, communal, and ancestral perspectives. My work largely centers on reclaiming the unseen, the intuitive, and the marginalized stories within us and expanding the narrative beyond dominant cultural frameworks and celebrating the full spectrum of human experience.
I use many mediums; fiber arts and weaving, silversmithing, digital illustration, sketching and painting, writing and storytelling. My style is a channeling of an unspeakable but felt essence of aliveness and magic. Exploring the relationship between micro and macro, and creating beauty which might not have been otherwise noticed or celebrated.
My themes are safety and presence in the body, unconditional love, remembering wholeness and our innate connection to all that is. I am inspired by the sentience and wisdom of nature and archetypal themes every one of us seems to experience. I am fueled by curiosity and exploration of my own inner world and subconscious to find hidden gems and parts of myself I have suppressed or forgotten. In this space, alchemizing my pain and suppressed parts to embody and express wholeness, joy and creativity.
